Courtney Evans – U.K
Courtney Evans is the current course coordinator and senior lecturer in contemporary dance and choreographic practice at The School of Ballet Theatre UK. Having achieved an MA in Arts administration and cultural policy from Goldsmith University London, with distinction, her areas of focus continue to investigate the wide variety of contemporary dance forms and techniques and the integration of dance within a widening cultural demographic.
Courtney also holds a First Class Honours Degree in Dance from Coventry University. Her movement style derives from the training she received at Coventry University and draws on specific knowledge of Somatic Practices to encourage the initiation of movement from within the body. Contemporary Techniques such as Contact Improvisation, Skinner Releasing Technique and Floorwork are strongly underpinned by her training in Cecchetti Ballet as well as her time spent on the Dancers Course with Professional Dance Company The Balletboyz.
The students of The School of Ballet Theatre UK benefit greatly from Courtney’s extensive experience within the arts field. As an educator Courtney has taught across the West Midlands for companies and studios such as Black Country Dance Hub, Birmingham Hippodrome, Dance Exchange and Nicholson School of Dance. She has performed for intimate and unconventional venues with companies and artists such as Birmingham Opera Company, Pablo Bronstein, and George Saxon. Collaborating on various works such as “Flourishing Movements” Courtney is now developing her interest in Dance for the Camera.
