Julia enjoyed a successful and illustrious professional career before choosing to settled in Australia. During her international career she worked with some of the most prominent and renowned choreographers and dancers in the world. Including, Sylvie Guillem, Natalia Makarova, Patrice Bart, John Neumeier, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Jorma Uotinen, Pierre Lacotte and Per Jonsson to name but a few.
Born and raised in Sweden, Julia commenced her training with Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm. At the age of 15, she was offered a scholarship with Hamburg Ballet School where she studied and had the opportunity to work with John Neumeir. She then returned to Sweden to complete her training in the pre- professional program with the Royal Swedish Ballet School.
Julia danced with Jeune Ballet de France in Paris and the Royal Swedish Ballet Company before accepting a place with Finnish National Ballet Company. She was soon promoted to performing Soloist roles when just 20 years of age. While with the Finnish National Ballet, she performed soloist roles in Nureyev’s The Nutcracker, Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet, Makarova’s La Bayadere, Beigmeister’s Swan Lake, Jorma Uotinen Firebird, Nureyev’s Sleeping Beauty and Sylvie Guillem’s Giselle and William Forsythe’s Second Detail.
Julia attained the rank of Junior Soloist shortly after joining the English National Ballet Company, performing in the Nutcracker and Cinderella. Upon leaving the English National Ballet, Julia decide to extend herself to other styles of dance. Further developing herself as an artist, she worked at the famous French Cabaret Lido de Paris and Casino Estoril Ballet in Portugal, before bringing the focus back to her classical ballet expertise. Returning to work as a freelance dancer she was a guest artist in New York, ultimately Julia was invited to dance principal roles across the globe, including in Hungary, Sweden, Japan, USA and Brazil.
In 2010 she settled in Australia and began her teaching and coaching career as well as extending her role as a international adjudicator.
By 2012 Julia had joined forces with her business partner Damian Hannan establishing a number of businesses catering to the world of ballet under their company TIHDAH. Together they created a full time program where Julia was teaching pre-professional young dancers given many of her students the chance to become professional ballet dancers around the world.
Julia has maintained a robust network of professional and personal connections within the ballet world who collaborate with her full-time program.. She has been working with professional schools in Australia and New Zealand. Internationally at the Royal Swedish Ballet School and Royal Ballet School with Gailene Stock among others.Julia has been asked to teach Master Classes for Ballet Companies such as Finish National Ballet, various studios in London, Paris and throughout Australia.
Julia focuses on company style, Vaganova based classes and specialises in coaching talented transition and ore-professional students in classical ballet.
